Recapping the Fall 2014 Kornblue Kicking & Snapping Challenge…
Several top kicking, punting, and long snapping prospects competed over the weekend in the Fall 2014 Kornblue Kicking & Snapping Challenge in Ft Lauderdale, FL.
Seven states were represented but many specialists from SW Florida stood out. The starting varsity and JV kicker from Naples HS earned Kicking Champion honors for their respective grade levels. Junior Jerry Nunez showed why he’s Division 1 caliber by drilling several long FG’s, including the longest FG of the day from 55 yards out. Sophomore Adrian Gorrostieta also showed off his strength with a 69 yard kickoff.
College transfer Andrew Lunsford (Evangelical Christian HS/Webber University) set an event record with an 80 yard kickoff. Senior Jack Spicer (Estero HS) finished 2nd overall in the punting division. Seniors Weston Cole (Bishop Verot HS) and Grant Young (Evangelical Christian HS) had solid showings kicking and punting. Junior Noah Wren (Mariner HS) made both of his 50 yard FG attempts during competition and finished 3rd in the class of 2016. Other SW Florida competitors included juniors Cameron Taylor (Palmetto Ridge HS) and Emily Culvahouse (Estero HS), and sophomore Logan Richardson (N. Ft. Myers HS). Long snappers Troy Hasty (Evangelical Christian HS) and Jake Bowlin (Bishop Verot HS) also competed well.
The next Kicking Challenge event is scheduled for late April 25, 2015. For more info on small group or private training, visit www.KornblueKicking.com or contact Brandon Kornblue at (561)702-0203.
